Young Performance Collective

Young Performance Collective provides an opportunity to become part of a small company of young neurodivergent actors aged 15 to 25 years, formed exclusively for the duration of rehearsing and performing a professionally produced play. It is an opportunity to develop your acting and physical skills, improve your understanding of professional stagecraft, and in this year’s Collective, an integral part of the project will involve devising text and movement; a very different skill from working from a script.

The 2021 Project – When This is Over with Company Three

As a result of our successful application, we are one of 18 companies selected to take part in a project with Company Three called When This is Over, a play in which young people tell their life stories.

Company Three is a theatre company led by the ideas of young people, based in Islington, London. They are a leading force for change for young people in their local community and around the world.

The play is about things that have happened already to the young people creating it, and the things that might happen for them in the future. Through these modest predictions for lives not yet lived we see ourselves for who we are right now, and how we want the world to change.

Working within creative frameworks provided by Company Three we will be devising our own play based on this concept to be performed in December 2021 at Reading Rep Theatre’s exciting new theatre building on the Kings Road. This is to coincide with the International Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. Company Three (and we!) like the idea that young people across the country will be expressing their hopeful futures at the same time a group of adult leaders are deciding the future of the world.

At this point, the When This is Over project and Young Performance Collective 2021 will come to a close.

We will be casting for the new Young Performance Collective 2022 project in Autumn 2021. Get in touch to register your interest.
