Weekly SEND drama provision
Our specialist SEND drama practitioners and/or sensory artists visit SEND schools and colleges weekly, using our unique approaches tailored to the age, support needs, and interests of MLD, SLD, PASD and PMLD cohorts. Through a more formal drama lesson structure and/or sensory theatre, students develop creativity, confidence, and communication skills while supporting their PSHE and literacy development.

We have three unique approaches that have been carefully curated to be engaging, inclusive, and impactful for ALL your student body, offering meaningful opportunities for expression, collaboration, and personal growth.

Weekly SEND drama provision for ARPs
We visit ARPs in primary schools on an ongoing basis, delivering sessions as a part of the wider curriculum that are carefully curated for children with a wide range of needs by specialist drama practitioners. Using age-appropriate, interest-led approaches, we use creative play, nonverbal theatre making and interactive storytelling to support emotional regulation, turn-taking and communication. These engaging sessions provide a safe, inclusive space for children to express themselves, build social skills, and enjoy the benefits of creative, hands-on learning.

Weekly SEMH drama provision
Weekly SEMH Drama Provision Our highly skilled SEMH drama practitioners deliver weekly “Social Arts” sessions in specialist SEMH schools, in units in mainstream primaries, with cohorts of identified young people in mainstream secondaries and in Pupil Referral Units on a weekly basis.

Using trauma-informed, interest-led approaches that don’t even mention the word “drama” but aim to build safety, curiosity and collaboration, our skilled staff quickly build rapport and trust. Sessions start as low demand as is needed, and are paced to suit each young person’s needs, helping them develop emotional regulation, teamwork, listening skills, communication, resilience, and confidence. Through drama-based games and activities, students explore, collaborate, and express themselves in a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages personal growth and social development.
Alternative provision for SEND/SEMH teenagers- Space to Create
Our weekly, Tuesday morning sessions (9am-12.30pm), held in central Reading, support neurodivergent and SEMH teenagers in mainstream/PRUs or AP schools who have been PEXed, are at risk of exclusion, are home-schooled and/or are on a reduced timetable. Sessions are interest-led, engaging young people through creative, hands-on activities such as sound design, playwriting, acting, movement and dance, stage makeup, costume, and set design. By connecting learning to their passions, we help students build confidence, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, while providing a supportive, enriching environment that keeps them engaged and inspired. We provide weekly written reports for your school and can offer Arts Award Level 1 and 2 qualifications for those young people on an extended placement with us.
Weekly sensory provision for SEND schools/ARPs
7Sense is our multi-sensory provision - a unique type of theatre designed specifically for audiences with profound, multiple and complex learning disabilities. We offer weekly and ad-hoc sessions at SEND schools, ARPs, colleges and specialist settings. Each carefully crafted show has live music, singing, storytelling and sensory props to create an immersive world where our audiences are invited to enjoy a creative experience, and find meaning within it, in their own unique sensory way.
Bespoke drama workshops in SEND/SEMH settings

Our specialist SEND/SEMH drama practitioners can deliver tailored drama workshops or sensory shows to enrich your school curriculum at key times of the year, such as World Book Day or Christmas. Each workshop will be engaging, inclusive, and impactful, and crafted from your brief, offering meaningful opportunities for expression, collaboration, and personal growth to underpin the work you are already doing or add to celebrations.
SEND focused After School Clubs
Our after-school clubs offer an expertly led and supported creative space specifically for SEND children in specialist or mainstream settings. Sessions include drama games and exercises, interactive story explorations, movement, and silliness tailored to your children’s interests, ages and support needs. These clubs provide enriching experiences for your school’s SEND community outside the core curriculum, helping children build confidence, emotional regulation, social skills, and creativity in a safe, welcoming environment that they can call their own.
Skills for Life projects
These sessions use drama and creative approaches to engage SEND and SEMH teens and young adults in real-world learning. Through interactive, interest-led activities, participants explore personal finances, healthy relationships, and develop key cognitive and emotional skills - including communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and time management. These sessions make essential life skills fun, relevant, and accessible, helping to build confidence, independence, and resilience.

“We truly appreciate the work the Make/Sense team does. Our pupils have developed a real love for drama, and we're grateful for the positive impact you've had.”
